About Us

Issubi came from personal lived experience as a single mother struggling single-handedly to take care of my three boys and never enough money for spending. I began to feel the itch and wondered how I could increase my earnings. Knowing too well that I can never achieve this on a salary alone. I couldn’t help but feel dissatisfied with a 9-5 routine. I wanted to earn more so I could pay off my debts sooner, and even bring my family to travel around the world.

After years of being a youth and community worker, designing and delivering different types of community programmes and managing youth work projects in London and Uganda. I found that I had become a bit of a ‘go to person’ for other women that required support and guidance, not just young people. Some just needed a little support on different things that women face that make them feel hopeless; abuse, addition, relationships, and so on. Whilst supporting these women I noticed each one of us had unique financial challenges.  Budgets are often more stretched, child care can be a struggle, and saving for the future might feel impossible at times.

Issubi is a game-changing women social business inspired by Amal Elsana Alh’jooj’s statement that ‘Hope is in A Woman’s Name’. derived from the Ugandan word Essubi meaning Hope.

Our Services

We sell products and services and the profits made from this are then reinvested back into our social purpose.

In Uganda, we have a small workshop led by our two Lead Artisans (both young women), and supported by a specialist business manager. We have three different artisan partnerships in Uganda. Working directly with skilled individuals who create products from locally sourced and upcycled materials, we ensure our artisan partners receive a fair wage. Through regular visits to our workshop in Kampala, we have witnessed the impact of women in slum communities accessing an ongoing, meaningful income.

We plan and manage Community Events for Private and Corporate clients across the UK including Events for the Infant and Youth Market

We offer Consultancy Services to voluntary and statutory youth organisations that work with young people aged between 8 and 19 years old (up to 25 with additional needs).
